process
We do not repeat papers or designs. Every project is an opportunity for us to start completely anew. We begin each project by plucking from hundreds of precedent photos to understand the colors, balance and form desired. We create each color from scratch and for that reason, no two hues, nor two patterns, are exactly alike in bespoke work.
We draw inspiration from just about every place imaginable. At the onset of every project we dig into materials, sentiment and the driving force of the final product. We endeavor to perform a deep dive into the worlds of color and form to create something meaningful and enduring.
imperfectionists
Our particular approach to marbling is born from a fondness for the variations in nature and a primal attraction to nature’s imperfection.
With a healthy disdain for symmetry, we find ourselves running towards the cracks, the fog, the twisted petals, the conjoined carrots.
We find consolation in the beauty marks, freckles and blurry lines in an ancient craft still performed with primitive combs, a mix of highly pigmented paints, and a (sometimes) steady hand.
